A fiduciary is legally required to place the interests of the client ahead of their own.

In the financial advice industry, only Registered Investment Advisors are always legally required to be fiduciaries.

Yes.

Ventus Wealth Management is a Registered Investment Advisor, and we are your fiduciary at all times.

When you’re considering potential advisors, “fiduciary” should be the bare minimum. You should also understand how the advisor is paid and consider their credentials and the ethical standards they are required to abide by.

Yes.

Ventus Wealth Management ONLY receives fees directly from clients. We cannot and will not accept commissions from any products or services.

In comparison, “fee-based” is a term synonymous with sales commissions. These types of firms receive commissions from the sale of financial products AND also client fees.

We do our best work with clients who are:

  1. Established Professionals. Mid-to-late career (40-65 years old), experiencing peak earnings, and have substantial net worth ($500,000+).
  2. Military Veterans. Previously served or currently serving in the military with associated benefits.
  3. Coherent Goals and Aspirations. Possess clarity on what they want to do with money. Examples include: save for retirement, fund education, buy a new boat, etc.
  4. Benefits or Compensation Complexity. Have access to additional benefits, compensation, and complexity. Examples include: deferred compensation, executive retirement accounts, equity compensation, small business ownership, etc.
  5. Tax Sensitive. Desire to pro-actively tax plan to minimize life-time taxes.

If you do not meet these criteria, no worries. Feel free to schedule an intro meeting so we can understand more about your aspirations and get you in contact with another great advisor from our professional network.

Ventus Wealth Management uses technology (virtual meetings, screen sharing, secure file transfer, etc.) to serve clients nationwide.

If you are comfortable with technology, geographic distance is not a problem.

Our investment philosophy can be summarized with three concepts:

  • Efficient Markets. Public markets are efficient, and prices reflect all known information. Therefore, risk-adjusted outperformance is extremely difficult and not worth the opportunity cost in time, effort, and risk of error.
  • Top-Down Asset Allocation. Savings rate, asset allocation, and investor behavior drive portfolio returns, not individual security selection.
  • Elegant Simplicity. Simplicity beats complexity while offering psychological and cost advantages.

Additionally, we believe that:

  • Markets cannot be consistently and effectively timed. Therefore, asset allocation must account for maximum drawdown and volatility.
  • Reward comes from risk.
  • Outperforming the market is not necessary to achieve investment success.
  • Portfolios require a purpose: time horizon, individual circumstances, and investment objectives are a crucial and mandatory component of portfolio development.
  • Deviations from core holdings are reasonable under certain circumstances.
